St. Paul’s are very proud of the long standing Special Olympic club that operates within the school. We have a rich history of competing at events held all over Munster every year for over 30 years.

Athletes participate in Motor Activities, Athletics, Aquatics and Floorball. From these events, athletes have qualified for the national games which are held every 4 years.

A lot of hard work is involved to get the athletes to this level. This is why we are so grateful to our retired teachers Padraig Aherne and Dympna Hyland who continue to assist and support the club by volunteering their time and expertise every week. Many of our staff also volunteer to attend Special Olympics events held on weekends in order to support our athletes to do their very best.

Special Olympics club is held on a Monday, Tuesday and Friday afternoon to facilitate every student at every level in the school Assembly Hall.

Special Olympics Motto: Let me win and if I can’t win let me be brave in the attempt.
